The more authority that the content gets, the more authority is passed onto your website that is linked to it, the more Google will respect your website. Here is a step by step process that will take you through an effective content marketing strategy.

  1. Find a blog that is relevant to the niche you are looking to promote your business site into. Write to the owner of that site/blog, and see if they will allow you to post something that will be useful to their readers and visitors.
  2. Research whatever topic you have agreed to write about, and bare in mind you will need to provide at least 500 words, sometimes maybe even 1500 – 2000 words on the subject you are writing about. Your post should contain at least 3 valid points or tit bits of information for your targeted reader.
  3. Send in your content to the site you are looking to post on, and make sure you keep in contact with the site owner so that you know when the post is placed, and if there are any issues with what you have written. Make sure you have a bio of yourself and your business attached that has a link to your own site. Do not use keyword anchor text anymore, but generic text like Click Here, or the naked URL of your site as “plain anchor text”.
  4. Once the post is in place make sure that you promote that post over as many social platforms as possible. Linked In, (any groups you may be a member of there, Facebook and Twitter are all excellent starters. Tumbler and Pin Interest also provide great opportunities for you to have a social platform to promote your content. This will draw readers to your post and benefit the site owner. It will also help add authority to the link that is coming to your site. A perfect Win Win situation.

If you have no social platforms to promote to, then this will be your first port of call. No SEO campaign can run successfully without social signals, and groups that you can promote content into. Various promotions to attract visitors to your social media platforms can be very successful in creating pools of “followers” and “friends” to market content and information to. Content is imperative to gaining respect and authority from search engines like Google, and also the business community that you are looking to serve. Millions use the internet to find solutions to a problem, or gain insight into a particular need. Make sure that as many of these people as possible are using your information to gain satisfaction. Customers will respect your authority as much as Google and the other search engines, and that is so very important.
